Unique Performance: The Untold Story
In the last year of Unique Performance, a group of new employees were disheartened by the quality of vehicles being built and took on the mission of bringing these vehicles to a level of performance and quality that matched their reputation. This group drew on its long and varied experience in the automotive industry to address the issues plaguing these vehicles. Although these vehicles were built with high end custom, and name brand components, many of them did not work well together or were subjected to extensive modification to make them work in the application. As a result many of the vehicles systems either operated poorly or routinely failed. In some cases dedicated racing parts were used that would wear prematurely under street use. It quickly became apparent that many of these systems required completed redesign to make them durable for street use.
Many hours were spent researching new products, talking to industry experts and suppliers on the best parts for our applications. Fixtures were developed to standardize fabricated parts. Prototype systems were developed to test new ideas prior to production changes. Experienced technicians were hired in and the production line technicians were trained on proper assembly techniques as upgrades were worked into the assembly line. A dedicated Warranty and Tuning department was established to handle retrofitting upgrades to existing vehicles returned for service. And finally a Quality Control program was put in place to ensure that the all of our efforts resulted in higher build quality and ultimately higher customer satisfaction.
By the end of summer in 2007, the overheating and lack of power issues with the long troubled Super Snake powerplant had been corrected. The Super Snakes were producing the advertised 750 crank horsepower, were street drivable, and had stable operating temperatures in hot Texas weather. The small block Mustang cars were being upgraded to sequential fuel injection for better drivability, throttle response, and fuel efficiency. Revisions were being made to the entire build process and all vehicles systems greatly improving vehicle quality and build efficiency. Similar refinements were made on the Camaro line and the lessons learned were being passed on to the development of the new Challenger project.
With the closing of Unique Performance we were again reminded of what can happen when the focal point of a business strays from quality and the Client. We have taken the steps to form Revved Automotive Concepts to continue our work of customer satisfaction through the delivery of a high quality product. Please visit our Gallery for a showcase of the Unique Performance vehicles we have rehabilitated since their closing. God and Clients willing we will continue to add to that Gallery for years to come. If you currently own a Unique Performance vehicle or are considering purchasing one we are the proven experts in making these vehicles solid street drivable vehicles.
